The State has announced that individuals 65+ and education and child care workers will be eligible to start making appointments to receive the vaccine, pending vaccine availability. These are the groups identified in Phase 1B, Tier 1.

Hi! I am wondering if there is a plan once childcare workers are approved to get the vaccine. As a small center, it has been difficult to have subs safely in the covid environment to cover multiple absences. Do you have any insight as to whether there will be any predictability in how appointments are set up? Please let me know. I am very eager to get my staff vaccinated for the safety of our community. I appreciate your input and any help on this!
Hi Kelsey! Thanks for your query. The County is presently giving priority to those in the 65+ years category. We have learned that child care workers are in the 1B essential workers category, and essential workers (child care, grocery store workers) are next in line.
I am also sharing with you a link to a YouTube recording of a presentation made by a Vaccine Committee member on January 28th. You can also attend our Tuesday Talks today where the same representative is going to speak again. What kind of proof does a childcare worker need to show? If you are a nanny, are you considered childcare worker?
Hi Maddi,
thank you for reaching out with a question. As a nanny, you are a childcare worker/essential worker and you can answer ‘yes’ on the registration form. Some vaccination sites ask for proof or documentation of eligibility, such as being a child care worker. We recommend that you go prepared with a letter from a parent stating that you are an employee and care for their child and this may be sufficient. We’ve also heard that some vaccination sites don’t ask for verification. We wish you luck! And please do tell us of your experience once you go for the vaccine. Thank you.
